Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a lifelong, neurodevelopmental condition affecting communication, social interaction, and behavior, with approximately 1 in 36 children identified as autistic. It is a “spectrum” with varied strengths and support needs, including sensory differences and intense, focused interests. Diagnosis involves assessing behavior and developmental history, often appearing early in childhood.
